They decided to buy the property at the end of June 2023, after being shown the development’s site by Ideal Homes Portugal. The agreed purchase price was €490,000 and the couple paid a 25 per cent deposit to secure the deal before flying back home to the US.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p style=&quot;font-weight: 400;&quot;&gt;&lt;em&gt;“We came to Portugal for a few months in April 2023,”&lt;/em&gt; said Angie, aged 59 and a former executive at Google. &lt;em&gt;“We were looking for somewhere outside the US to become resident for half the year and our research showed that Portugal is frequently ranked as one of the safest and most expat-friendly countries in the world. We explored all the different areas before falling in love with Tavira in the Eastern Algarve. Wasting no time, while having lunch there we got on Google, found the Ideal Homes website and made an enquiry.”&lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;&lt;/em&gt;&lt;/p&gt;

Compared to the more developed resorts west of Faro, such as Albufeira, the more traditional communities in the Tavira area seem mature and calmer, which we prefer. Then of course, there are the fabulous beaches, the fantastic food and the fact your transfer to Faro Airport is just 35-40 minutes. You can also nip over the border into Spain easily too!”&lt;/em&gt;&lt;/p&gt;
